چکیده

Abstract The United States is currently affected by widespread hepatitis A virus (HAV) outbreaks. We investigated HAV incidence rates among source plasma donors in the since 2016. Serial donations from HAV-positive frequent were analyzed for common biologic markers to obtain a detailed picture of course infection. found considerable increase with shifting outbreak hotspots over time. Although individual biomarker profiles highly variable, RNA typically had high peak and biphasic decrease often remained detectable several months. One donor pattern indicative previous exposure. Our findings show that current outbreaks have been spilling into population. results presented improve our comprehension infection related public health aspects. In addition, capture full curves enables estimation doubling

West Nile Virus Infection in Plasma of Blood and Plasma Donors, United States

This study investigated the association of ongoing West Nile virus (WNV) infections with neutralizing antibody titers in US plasma-derived intravenous immune globulin released during 2003-2008. Titers correlated closely with the prevalence of past WNV infection in blood donors, with 2008 lots indicating a prevalence of 1%.

Risk Factors for Hepatitis C Virus Infection in United States Blood Donors

Injection drug use (IDU) is a known risk factor for hepatitis C virus (HCV) infection, but the strength of other parenteral and sexual risk factors is unclear. In 1997, we performed a case-control study of 2,316 HCV-seropositive blood donors and 2,316 seronegative donors matched on age, sex, race/ethnicity, blood center, and first-time versus repeat-donor status. Odds ratios (OR) and 95% confid...

Hepatitis C virus infection and genotypes in blood donors

Abstract: Genotyping of the hepatitis C virus (HCV) is important for designing therapeutic strategies and regional specific diagnostic assays. The aim of this study was to identify the HCV genotypes in HCV infected blood donors. This is the first report on HCV genotypes in blood donors in Iran. In this cross-sectional study, 103 blood donors with hepatitis C were investigated for HCV genotype...

Fulminant hepatitis A virus infection in the United States: Incidence, prognosis, and outcomes.

Acute liver failure (ALF) due to hepatitis A virus (HAV) infection is an uncommon but potentially lethal illness. The aim of this study was to identify readily available laboratory and clinical features associated with a poor prognosis among ALF patients with HAV infection. The presenting features of 29 adults with anti-HAV IgM positive ALF enrolled in the ALFSG_between 1998 and 2005 were revie...

Hepatitis E Virus and Serum Level Aminotransferases in Blood Donors

Background: Hepatitis E virus (HEV) infection is a self-limiting viral infection that can lead to severe complications and death. In different regions the epidemiology of this infection varies. In this study we evaluated the seroepidemiology of hepatitis E infection in Jahrom, a city in southern Iran. Methods: This was a cross-sectional descriptive study of serum samples from 477 subjects, i...
